Seasons Greetings from DBP Electrical Consulting! It’s hard to believe that 2014 is all but a memory. Overall DBP Electrical Consulting had a great year! There were some bumps along the way but in the end we finished with five straight years of growth.

Through the year we worked on projects all over the United States and Canada ranging from schools in Minnesota, low level nuclear waste sites in Ontario, oil production facilities in Alaska, multiple restaurants in Alberta, multi family dwellings in the DC area, and military facilities on Oahu.

The highlight of the year without a doubt was making a trip to Hawaii to provide estimator training for a client in Mililani. The low point in the year was losing a key member of our team and the clients that we had to turn away because our workload simply would not permit us to take on anymore work.

Ben Whitmore graduated from college this year with a degree in business and became a full time employee in May. Ben is now the assistant manager of the company and has developed into a very good estimator.

In 2014 DBP Electrical Consulting saw its affiliation with The Consulting Estimator Round Table (CERT) blossom. We were able to forge many new relationships that promise to pay dividends for years to come. I will not specifically call you out by name in the interest of maintaining confidentiality but I would like thank you all that helped us along the way! You know who you are!

Windows dropping its support of the XP operating system forced us to upgrade all of our computers. We only upgraded to Windows 7 as I hate the Windows 8 platform.  We also made the leap to the latest version of Conest IntelliBid, our primary estimating tool. Jan Thayer, Vice President of Sales and Customer Service was awesome to work with, thank you for all of your assistance Jan! I highly recommend Conest to anyone who is considering purchasing estimating software!

A deep appreciation goes out to all the contractors who continue to support us and use our services! You all have very tough jobs with declining margins and labor pool. You are at the core of what we do and we do not take your business for granted!

It’s hard to predict what 2015 will bring but we hope to continue to expand our contractor base and our affiliation with CERT starting in February when we will be attending the winter conference. We also want to expand our training services. Continued growth cannot last forever but for now and until the end of the year we will continue to appreciate the blessings we were granted in 2014 and look forward to hitting the ground running in 2015!
