Four Decades of Electrical Construction Experience
David Parden has dedicated more than four decades to the electrical construction industry, building a career that spans electrical construction, electrical estimating, project management, consulting, contractor mentoring, and estimator training. Since entering the trade in 1979, he has worked in virtually every phase of the profession, giving him the practical, real-world experience that serves as the foundation of DBP Electrical Consulting.
Early Career & Education
David’s career began in 1979 when he enrolled at Dothan Vocational Center in Dothan, Alabama, where he completed 1,080 hours of study in the electrical trades. In 1982, he began his first job as an electrician’s apprentice in New Orleans, Louisiana, launching a career that would eventually span more than four decades.
In 1990, David earned an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology from Southeast College of Technology in Mobile, Alabama. Later that same year, he earned his Master Electrician License in the State of Alabama, combining formal technical education with professional licensing.
Professional Career Timeline
After beginning his career as an electrician’s apprentice in New Orleans in 1982, David worked his way through the electrical construction industry, gaining experience in residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional construction. By the age of 27, he earned his Journeyman Electrician License in Mobile, Alabama.
Later in 1990, David earned his Master Electrician License in Alabama and founded Total Electric, an electrical contracting company that he owned and operated for approximately 11 years. As an electrical contractor, he gained firsthand experience managing projects, supervising field personnel, estimating work, purchasing materials, scheduling manpower, and operating every aspect of a successful electrical contracting business.
In 2001, David transitioned into full-time electrical estimating when he joined RT Electric in Las Cruces, New Mexico, as Chief Electrical Estimator. During his five years there, he prepared competitive estimates for a wide variety of commercial and industrial electrical construction projects throughout the Southwest.
In 2006, David joined Gregory Electric in Loveland, Colorado, as an Electrical Estimator, where he continued estimating complex commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. In 2007, he earned his Master Electrician License in the State of Colorado, a credential he continues to hold today.
Following his time at Gregory Electric, David established North Range Electric in Colorado. Although the company was affected by the national economic downturn during the 2008 financial crisis, the experience further strengthened his understanding of the financial and operational challenges electrical contractors face during changing economic conditions.
In 2010, David founded DBP Electrical Consulting with a mission of helping electrical contractors improve estimating accuracy, increase profitability, strengthen project management, and build more successful businesses. Today, DBP Electrical Consulting provides professional electrical estimating services, electrical estimator training, contractor mentoring, and project management consulting for contractors throughout the United States and Canada.
